Summary: Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit from The Shire. He is visited by a rambunctious group of Dwarves who seek him to join their quest to reclaim their gold from the Lonely Mountain. The wizard Gandalf coerces Bilbo to be their robber in the band of adventurers and they set off on an exciting journey, most unusual for a Hobbit. This is the first of three installments in the film adaptation of the book The Hobbit.

Critical Analysis: Peter Jackson created an elaborate cinematic world of Middle Earth to bring JRR Tolkien's world to life. The Hollywood Reporter says, "Jackson and his colleagues have created a purist's delight,"(2012 McCarthy). This movie is just a beautiful fantasy for audiences of all ages, but lends a special place for the beauty of Middle Earth. The scenes inside Bilbo's home draw the viewers in  like they are a part of the action themselves. Watching this is a special treat for fantasy lovers.

Annotation: Join Bilbo Baggins as he embarks on a journey unlike any a Hobbit has ever taken with a motley assortment of companions. The adventure, excitement, and fear are overcome by friendship and honor.

About the director: Born on October 31, 1961, in New Zeland, Peter Jackson started his prolific career at the young age of 8, creating short films with a 8-mm movie camera. Without any formal training, Jackson has directed a number of successful films ranging across all genres. He is most well-known for his film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, which has won numerous awards. He stayed with the Tolkien fantasy brand when The Hobbit film series was released.
