Summary: In Mean Girls, new girl Cady finds herself involved in the popular group of girls, nicknamed "the Plastics". Along with a couple of other outsiders, she devises a plan to take down the girls and even the score between the "haves" and "have nots" in her school. Of the course of her social sabatoge, Cady finds herself emulating the cruel behaviors and finds that it is not easy to be yourself when it is so attractive to be popular as someone fake. In the end, friendships prove more valuable than image.

Critical Analysis: This movie is a high point in Lindsay Lohan's career. She received awards and acclaim for her depiction of a student moving into a new school and social structure. At this point, Lindsay was a hot ticket for her role in many comedies about teen girls. This particular movie is one that continues to be entertaining and relevant, while others have faded away. The story is based on the non-fiction book Queen Bees and Wannabees, by Rosalind Wiseman. The scathing examination of teen girls' aggressive behaviors is both informative and entertaining.

Annotation: Cady must infiltrate the plastics to take them down. Is she going to sell her soul for popularity?

About the screenwriter: Tina Fey is an American actress, comedian, writer and producer born on May 18, 1970, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. She broke through in 1995 on Saturday Night Live as a writer and actress. Since leaving the show, Fey has written hit movies and has written and starred in the television series 30 Rock, for which she has garnered two Emmys.
